Your eyesight and sports

It is important to have good vision when practicing a sport. Customized sports glasses provide optimal visual performance.
Blue-violet and ultraviolet (UV) lights are harmful for the eyes. UV lights can cause skin cancer and eye disorders and blue-violet light is a risk factor in the onset of age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
Tips for indoor sports:
- If you wear glasses, we recommend that you wear contact lenses when practicing regular physical activities, to avoid any risk of accident (e.g breaking your spectacles) and for better visual comfort.
Tips for outdoor sports:
- You should be more careful when practicing outdoor sports activities since you are exposed to direct sunlight. Wear 100% UV protected sunglasses and preferably choose lightweight, resistant and polarizing polycarbonate lenses to avoid glare.
- Sunglasses are recommended when practicing an outdoor water sport (sailing, surfing, water skiing, fishing, outdoor swimming ...) to reduce the effects of the sun’s reflection on water and keep your eyes safe. Keep your sunglasses even when you are out of the water since sand also has a major reflective effect and can damage your eyes.
