Do you have vision problems and are thinking about using contact lenses rather than glasses?

Contact lenses have various advantages. Both practical and aesthetic, they are a life-saver for those who have a visual condition but do not want to wear spectacles. In addition, they are a big help for people practicing a sport activity. You will find further information below which will help you find your appropriate contact lenses.

How contact lenses work?

Contact lenses are worn directly in contact with the eyes. They have been designed to correct the vision whilst being comfortable to wear. We now propose silicone hydrogel lenses which provide more comfort and can be worn for longer hours.

Our eyes are one of our most vital organs. It is therefore important that there is no compromise in hygiene to prevent any infection.

Types of contact lenses

Years of research have made contact lenses more accessible and offer a wide range of choice to consumers.

Types of contact lenses

Soft or hard, the use of traditional contact lenses has reduced considerably. People prefer disposable ones since they are more practical.

Monthly contact lenses

The monthly contact lenses are worn on a daily basis. They need to be removed every evening to be cleaned for next use. They are renewed either on biweekly or monthly basis.

Daily contact lenses (daillies)

Daily contact lenses are renewed on a daily basis – you wear them during the day and throw away at night and wear completely new contact lenses on the next day.

The benefits of daily contacts or “dailies” :
  • You don’t have to clean them – Forget about the nightly cleaning routine or your parade of solution bottles. At the end of a long day, just toss them out and go to bed.
  • Dailies feature the easiest easy-to-remember wear schedule – No more calendar reminders about replacing your contacts. Take them out at night, and get a fresh pair every morning.
  • Daily disposable contacts save time – In addition to cutting out daily cleaning time, you can carry spare pairs that save you trips home.
  • They may help with eye allergies – With less time for deposits to build up, daily contacts give allergies less of a chance to flare. Also, a fresh, smooth lens surface every day is gentler on irritated eyes.
  • Great with teenagers! How many parents wish they could say that? With all that’s going on from school to sports to social lives, teenagers are apt to forget or ignore cleaning and changing contacts. While neglecting this part of contact lens care can pose risks to their eyes, dailies make cleaning unnecessary and changing a breeze.

Silicone Hydrogel contact lenses

Silicone hydrogels are the latest in a line of developments aimed at increasing the oxygen permeability (increased comfort, longer wear and better eye health), wettability (better comfort) and clinical performance of contact lenses. Silicone has higher oxygen permeability, allowing more oxygen to pass, than water, so oxygen permeability is no longer tied to how much water is in each lens.

Colored contact lenses

Have you ever wished your eyes were slightly bluer than their natural hue? Now you can have just that—even if you don’t need your vision corrected.

There are cosmetic contact lenses to enhance, or even change, the color of your eyes. This includes “plano,” or zero power, lenses with no magnification. However, since contacts are medical devices, you should speak with an eye care professional before using such novelty contact lenses.

Compared to glasses, lenses offer a better field of view and a better evaluation of the distances, they allow to better understand the environment and to react more quickly to the movements. They do not fall off and do not slip when moving or sweating. They eliminate fogging and can be worn under a ski mask or helmet.

IMPORTANT :
It is recommended that contact lenses users go for an eye check up regularly and ensure that they have their prescription when they are buying their contact lenses.

How to clean your contact lenses

Contact lenses are very practical and easy to maintain. Except for the disposable contact lenses, they require daily care to avoid any infection.

  • Wash your hands with soap and water before touching your contact lenses. Ensure that you use a lint-free towel to dry your hands.
  • Use fresh cleaning solution every time. DO NOT used tap or bottled water, saliva, saline solution or rewetting drops.
  • Rub your contact lenses and rinse off with fresh cleaning solution. (Studies have shown that ‘rub and rinse’ is the best way to.
  • Clean your contact lenses.
  • Ensure that your nails do not touch the lenses since they are sharp and also contain germs.
  • Leave your lenses overturned and open to dry.
  • Ensure that you do not clean your case with water since it may contain impurities thus a risk of infection.
  • Do not leave your case near the toilet or in humid places to avoid risk of mildew and germs building up.

Other ways to keep contacts clean

Don’t transfer contact lens cleaning solutions into smaller containers for travel or storage, which can compromise the sterility of your solution.

  • Keep your solution bottle tightly capped, and avoid contact with surfaces or objects while in use.
  • Replace your contact lens case at least every three months.
  • Never wear your contact lenses more than 30 days after first opening.
  • Avoid air smoke and other pollutants, which can enter your eyes and cause irritation and infection.
  • Ensure that you follow all instructions given when buying your contact lenses.
