Optometrists, ophthalmologists and opticians have different levels of training and know-how and skills.
Optometrists are eyecare specialists who are able to diagnose eye diseases, dispense contact lenses and perform refractive examinations. Optometrists do not carry out surgery.
Orthoptists work closely with optometrists, opticians and ophthalmologists to diagnose and treat eyesight disorders by means of re-education and eye-training sessions.
